Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do – from the artists we work with, the communities and theatres who programme us, and the audiences who come to see us perform. All our shows involve audience interaction and an element of improvisation, which means no show is the same. It’s what keeps us on our toes, and makes them so fun to watch!
We have been fortunate enough to work with some brilliant freelance artists, many of whom have been with us since our first show over a decade ago …
SUSIE DONKIN
Susie is a founder member and Artistic Director of Spitz & Co, as well as a comedy writer/performer. She was a member of the sketch group Bearded Ladies (Radio 4, BBC2, Channel 4), and has been involved in BAFTA winning “Horrible Histories” (CBBC) as both a writer and a performer since the first series. She has created and performs in all of Spitz & Co’s shows. She has written two books “Zeus is A Dick” and “The Good, The Bard and The Ugly”, both published by Hodder. She appears as Connie in the CBeebies show “Waffle the Wonderdog”.
JOE REEVE
Joe is a musician, comedy performer and much-loved Elvis impersonator. As Elvis he has performed all over the country everywhere from local care-homes to private parties, from Womad to Blackpool’s Ballroom. He also performs regularly with his popular 80’s coversband Kingsonik.
SUE CONDIE
Sue is a Stroud-based theatre designer with a wealth of experience from “Aladdin” at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham to “A Midsummer Nights’ Dream” in the round at Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. She is a talented, innovative artist and excellent collaborator who has designed all our shows with us and totally understands our low-fi, homespun, recycle ethic and the importance of sustainability.
PAULINE MOREL
Pauline is an actress and producer. She was awarded a “Gold Medal” in Drama at the Conservatoire National de Région in Troyes and went on to run her own theatre company in Paris. Her clown training with Nose to Nose, Gerry Flanagan, Franki Anderson, Spymonkey, and Mick Barnfather. She currently lives in Marseille.
ANGUS BARR
Angus is artistic director of Publick Transport whose productions include ‘Discombobulated’, ‘Very Hard Times’, ‘The Dept. of Smelling Pistakes’ and ’20,000 Leagues Under the Office’. Over the years he has collaborated with Desperate Men, Gonzo Moose, and Ridiculusmus. His solo show “Ukele Banjo Warrior” is currently touring.
RINA VERGANO
Rina is a Bristol-based playwright and dramaturg with a background in European theatre-making, specialising in new work for younger and family audiences. Her work has been commissioned by theatres including the Egg theatre, Grid Iron, Bristol Old Vic, and Polka Theatre. She believes in theatre for the people by the people, and in taking live theatre into non-theatre spaces.
GREG BANKS
Greg a writer and director who has has written over thirty original scripts many of which are currently being produced at theatres throughout The States and Canada. In his work the audience is not just a passive observer, instead they are acknowledged by the actors and that the story being told is shared by everyone in the room.
AITOR BASAURI
Aitor is joint artistic director of internationally renowned clown company Spymonkey with whom he also performs. He leads Spymonkey clown workshops all over the world, as well as directing, specialising in physical comedy. He is one of the most sought-after practitioners in his field.
ABIGAIL COLLINS
Abi is an internationally renowned cabaret performer, comedian and circus artist who has toured all over the world. She now directs and mentors artists and companies, as well as devising work, using her wealth of experience on the cabaret circuit.
